SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module. These are small cards that fit in cell phones. It’s a smart card that lets you switch cell phones with out having to manually switch all your information.
They come in two standard sizes. The first is the credit card size, now there is a smaller version that is 25mm wide.
The first SIM card dates back to 1991. Most SIM cards use one of two operating systems. The two are Native or Java cards. Each SIM card has a unique ICCID number. The idea is that the SIM can store names, numbers and texts. SIM cards can store a certain number of SMS messages. Nowadays SIM cards can hold up to 250 contacts.
Each major cell phone company has SIM cards in their phones. If you need a new SIM card for you phone you can buy one with out the phone. You can look on EBay for ATT, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon SIM cards.
